Dornauf's property on Lilydale Road

This site was 10m past culvert opposite the Livingston’s lane way and it was also 100-200 metres from the last site. There were 2 old burrows but no evidence of new ones. The main vegetation was water cress and juncus. The depth of the stream was  4-8cm.     

The stream habitat rating was poor (10).

Lilydale Falls 

Approximately 50m from the road with a sandy based riverbank and fast flowing water and the main vegetation are ferns. There were nine burrows present.

Lilydale Falls

On the edge of the riverbank we found that the water was 30 cm deep and fast flowing because there was a waterfall 50 m away. There were native trees and fallen logs in water. We found 4 active and 2 old burrows. One of these was 10 cm high and very active. This site was 20 metres from final lookout on a bush track. It was a rocky bank and it was well shaded.

The stream habitat rating was Excellent 29

     

Site 8 23/8/2001

Lilydale Falls

This site was almost inaccessible. It was 100m from the last waterfall. There was a lot of native vegetation along the riverbank. We found 36 active burrows and 5 non-active burrows. These burrows were above the flood line. There were lots of fallen trees, leaves and bark laying on the ground.  The stream nearby was fast flowing and had many bends and variations in depth.
